Blog in haste; repent at leisure

It's always a thrill to be quoted by my blogging idol, so this morning when I clicked over to About Last Night and read, "Brenda Coulter...offers some sensible observations," my little heart tripped. A few seconds later, I wanted to slink under my desk.

Did I really suggest that Terry Teachout might "stink" at writing fiction?

If I thought for even a New York minute that I could pull it off, I'd try to convince you all that my evil twin was guest-blogging on that day. But you probably suspected long before now that I wasn't exactly a model pupil at charm school (okay, the truth: I never attended charm school, even though it was often hinted that I might have snagged a full scholarship based on need).

While I am somewhat relieved that my rash comment appears to have afforded Mr. Teachout some small amusement, I would like to state for the record that if he ever does publish a novel, I'll be first in line to buy it. He admits to having tried novel-writing and even a play and asserts that he does stink at fiction--but the guy's a drama critic, so how can we know he's not judging his own work too harshly?

Are you a novelist? Today at The Charis Connection, author Patricia Hickman asks, "When did you know?"

Ever the oddball, I was nearly 45 years old when I discovered to my utter amazement that I have a knack for novel-writing. If you're interested in knowing what brought that revelation about, pop over to this page of my website.

What a great blog you have, Brenda! I will definitely be stopping by more often. I would also loved to read "A Family Forever." Thanks so much for commenting on my blog! :)

Aw, thanks, Cindy and Vicki. You're both very kind.

I see my sister has stopped by to nag me about updating my website. As I told you, Skeezicks, that's on my list. I know I've allowed the site to languish since it was hacked, but cleaning up that mess was horribly depressing, and the blog's been taking up big chunks of my time, anyway. But I'll get the website updated. Soon.

Bonnie, I thought about you just now when I blogged about NaNoWriMo. Will you again be jumping into the fray?
