My summer office

I still need to work out some climate-control problems in my summer office, but over the weekend I threw on a jacket and moved in anyway.

Those of you who were reading this blog over the winter will remember that I recently killed the primrose (primula) that resided in my indoor office. I kept forgetting to water it, as I do with most of my houseplants, but you shouldn't worry about the ones in this photo. My track record with outdoor plants is considerably better, so I'll be planting these lovelies in the garden.

When I went to the garden center on Saturday, I spotted a table full of potted herbs. In the midst of the catnip plants, a large black cat basked in bliss. I dislike cats, but this one all but smiled at me. Too bad I wasn't packing my camera.

I'll be busy with church and family activities all week, so I'll be blogging lite. If I miss a day here or there, please don't think I've abandoned you.

Now let's all get out there and make it a great week.

so pretty! I hope you're not sitting on an iron chair, though!

I love the Sony Vaio laptop. I bought one 4 years ago, I know it's old, but it's still great to look at and great to use. It's a must have for any writers...a laptop that is.

Recently, I have been fishing for a notebook instead of a laptop. They are smaller, and more portable. I find that these days, laptops are becoming more and more like desktops, with wider screens and bigger over all. This defeats the purpose of a portable device.

I'm glad you clarified the indoor/outdoor thing with plants..I shrieked in horror when I saw all those innocent little primrose sitting there so unknowingly!

You ladies just wait. I grow roses for heaven's sake, and I'm darned good at it. (I currently have 8 rose bushes in the front garden and more than a dozen in the back. I grow antique roses, David Austin roses, climbers, and hybrid teas.) When they start blooming I'll put up some pics and you'll feel terrible for having judged me so harshly.
;-)

Amy, my wrought-iron chairs are nicely shaped, so they're perfectly comfortable without cushions.

Rob, I don't use a desktop computer, and I'd be uncomfortable staring at one of those tiny notebooks all day, every day, so the Vaio is a good compromise. It can travel when it has to, but what I care about most is being able to take it into my living room or out to my garden. I also appreciate the Celeron processor, which runs cooler than a Pentium, and is therefore more comfortable to hold on my lap.

Nice idea. I think I'll take my office outdoors this summer, too. Only I'll have to use pen and paper because I don't own a laptop. :)

Just a Dell computer...bulky as it is, I actually love sitting at my desk and typing away on the keyboard.

Mum, I know several romance writers who enjoy doing their first drafts in longhand.
