You actually write long hand?!! That's great. I love to write long hand too, but then wouldn't be able to do all the Word stuff. So... typing online in my unpublished blog. I'm at 800 words for today. Have to carve a little time elsewhere in the evening. It's my first time :)
I'm finding it a serious challenge to write and care for four kids, two of them demanding preschoolers! I'm only at 607 word! Not even one page! Yikes! I'm going to start getting up earlier, typing during naps, and whipping out a few hundred words before bed. I really want to finish this book, even if 90% of it turns out to be trash.
So far I've had a good couple of days. I'm participating in an unofficial capacity via the eHarlequin thread because I'm already in the middle of a current wip.
I've decided that the time has come for me to take my writing seriously, and I can't do that when I fritter away ever moment reading blogs, lol!
Reporting a daily word count etc. on the message board has ensured that I find some self-discipline. Although having said that, it is early days so it might fizzle out yet! But, if I can make my willpower stay I should have a completed first draft by the end of November...

Brenda -- I saw yesterdays "Marvin" comic strip, and it made me think of your blog. I'd post a link, but as far as I can tell it's not available online (for free, anyway).

Well, Julie, maybe you'd better brace yourself, because one of the best things about November is that I get to spend it heckling the NaNoWriMo participants. (Hurry! Hurry! Only 27 days left!) No, I have never jumped into the fray, myself, because writing every day is something I already do.
Reese, I got tired just reading your comment. ;-) And by the way, since manuscripts are always double-spaced, 250 words is considered a page. So congratulations on getting almost 2-1/2 pages done.

Julie, thanks for sharing the Marvin comic. I'm still waiting for my blog to become famous enough that Outback Steakhouse sics their lawyers on me for trademark infringement! I've never been able to discover whether "No rules...just right" is a common saying in Oz or if Outback just made it up.
I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this year, but after reading about it last year in USA Today I got inspired. I've finished 30,000 words so far. I even started a blog about the experience.

I always write every day, too, but not usually this much. It's great incentive.
