Baby, let's go to Kokomo

Road trip! Next Saturday morning I'll set off with my hunk o' burnin' love for a little driving adventure. First stop will be Kokomo, Indiana (more about that in a minute). From there we'll travel to Chicago for a visit with our Number One Son, and then we'll point the car toward southern Minnesota.

Since my first book was published in the summer of 2003, my husband has been teasing me about setting a book in Owatonna, Minnesota (population 22,000), where he spent his childhood. I'm not sure how it happened, but that family joke has evolved into an actual plan. I'm working on the story right now, so this will be a research trip for me.

Now, about Kokomo: Next Saturday I'll be at Don's Books (along with five other Harlequin authors) to help celebrate the opening of the store's new Harlequin Room, which boasts nearly 7,000 titles. If you'll be anywhere near Kokomo on that day, please consider joining us for lots of fun, freebies, and prize drawings. (When you see me with my "No rules" bag, be sure to ask for a snazzy purple pen and a handful of Dove chocolates.)

I expect to be at Don's from 4-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21. Click on the promo postcard for details.

I wish I could be there to support you! Unfortunately, Texas is quite a hop, skip, and a jump from there. Have a great time and let us know how it goes!

Yah, you betcha. My hunk o' burnin' love is giving me a crash course in the language.

Thanks, ladies, for your support.

I just may be there. I'll have to work out the details.

I think Kokomo is about 2 hours from my house and I would love to meet you!

Kokomo has a Sonic (for a Rt. 44 sized fresh lemon slushie) and a Starbucks (Venti Iced Americano with 2 pumps pumpkin spice with half and half)

Aw, Michelle. <3<3<3
I'm wildly flattered that you think meeting me might be worth a four-hour (round trip) drive. It wouldn't be, not even with the free chocolate and the snazzy purple pen, but maybe I shouldn't say that.

Yes, do come. We'll sneak off to a quiet corner and chat.

Brenda,
I thought of you at 5:30 this am. I had insomnia and was watching Larry King re-run with Suzanne Sommers. She said the reason romance novels sell so well in this country is that all the women her age are depressed and not sleeping. They're reading one romance novel every night! YOu can probably find the quote in the transcript on his website. :-)
I thought of you right away, how your sales might tank if women took her advice and starting buying bio-identical hormones instead of romance novels.

No, it wasn't a good book. You don't have to return that one.

Jeepers, Julana! Now you've got me worried!

OH! I cannot believe you will be so close to me(Kokomo.) Usually, I have NOTHING to do on a Saturday and I'd be there in a Fairmount minute (where I live,) but that is my busiest Saturday in a long time! Sheesh! Kokomo is just far enough away that I can't just pop in and out. Sigh.

I definitely want to go sometime to this place. Perfect! A Harlequin room! Love it. I'm glad I decided to come over to catch up on your blog. I would've never known something like this was so close to me. Thanks!

I'm sorry we couldn't meet, Crystal, but do visit Don's Books sometime. You'll love it there.
