I hold it true, whate'er befall;I have always enjoyed the poems of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, but I've never read much about the man himself, so I was fascinated by this piece at Today in Literature.
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.
Thirsty for more, I Googled and found a longer bio of Tennyson at incompetech.com ("Ugly website. Brilliant content.") Do not miss any of the 15 footnotes to the bio. They're a hoot.
