Good article on bookselling

I'm tied up with other things today, so I'm not going to comment on this article from Monday's Village Voice except to say that I found it fascinating and informative. It addresses some common questions about why booksellers and publishers operate the way they do.

I'm signing off for the weekend. Weather permitting, I'll make some fresh lemonade and (hopefully) finish my current writing project* in my summer office (which is also known as my back garden). With just a little more sunshine, my roses will start bursting open, so look for some pictures on Monday.

Enjoy the weekend, everyone. Be sure to wear your bike helmets and don't go swimming without a buddy, okay?

*Yes, I expected to send this novel to my editor long before now, but having migraines every day for six weeks running has made it a little difficult to concentrate. But you've kept up the blog, someone points out. Yes, but blogging is way easier than writing a novel, trust me. (The headaches, by the way, have begun to ease off: I've had only three migraines in the last week. We still don't know what started all this, but I'm not sure I care anymore--just as long as the headaches go away! Thanks again to everyone who has commiserated with me and prayed about this.)

Sorry to hear about the migraines. I get them as well (though thankfully not all that often) so I understand your pain.

Looking forward to seeing the pics of your roses. They are one of my favourite flowers.

Aww... sorry you've been suffering with the headaches for so long. I'm just getting over a virus (initially I thought it was an ms relapse), and the initial stages were similar to how I imagine a migraine to be. I hope and pray your headaches go away soon.

PS I agree that it is far easier to blog than to work on a novel! (I've not been doing much of either lately). The easiest thing of all is to read other people's blogs :-)
