BOBB: Step right up and scroll right down

When my Number Two Son was little, he had an imaginary friend named Bob. That invisible companion graciously lost about as many Monopoly games as he won, and often when a game was over, he'd whisper to my boy, "Tell your mom she's pretty." And then, "Ask if we can have cookies."

He was a real charmer, that Bob, and even now, hearing his name puts a smile on my face. That's why there was a cocker-spaniel named Bob in my first book. It's also the reason behind the silly name for the blog feature I'm introducing with this post: BOBB.

If you scroll down, down, down to the bottom of this page, you'll find a BOBB. That's short for "Bottom-of-the-blog Bonus," and it's just what it sounds like--a special little something for those who are willing to go that extra...uh, mile in perusing this blog. Look for a new BOBB every month or so, and count on it to be a lagniappe that doesn't necessarily conform to the theme ("writing, life, and the writing life") of this blog. The BOBB is meant to be a fun surprise.

I will not be providing links to the BOBBs. And those of you reading via RSS feed will have to click over to the site and scroll just like everyone else. Yes, it's a long trip to the end of this page, but you might find some entertaining photos and posts or some interesting sidebar items along the way--which is precisely my reason for putting something fun at the bottom of the blog.

Perhaps one day soon, all the cool kids in the blogosphere will be offering Bottom-of-the-blog Bonuses. If that happens, you can puff out your chest and say you remember the post that started it all.

Cool idea, Brenda! Makes me wish I was less html-challenged.

Does your son mind you telling all of blogosphere about Bob?

Thanks for the BOBB. I like the idea of BOBB. I wish I'd thought of it. :)

And today's BOBB is a good one for my grandniece and grandnephew to do as a Christmas fun project. They love to do this sort of stuff, and I'm the crafts-challenged auntie. But even a butterfingered klutz like me can manage this one. I think. :)

That's so cute, I'm going to give the idea to the little kids Sunday school teacher

What a great idea. Thanks Brenda! (For the record, Mr. Porkpop was a bit like Bob, but he only hung around for a day or so)

What a great idea. I'll do that today :) We'll probably paint ours though. Kidlet loves to paint.

Let's just keep this to ourselves, Camy. He doesn't have to know. ;-)

Thanks, everyone, for the positive feedback.
