Photo: Heart of Stone
When I opened one of the windows in my office and a stack of papers on my desk was disturbed by a sweet, rose-scented breeze, I settled matters with this little hand-carved Italian alabaster heart.
Yes, I know; alabaster is a white stone. But it turns out that alabaster's porous nature allows it to be dyed just about any color when it is brought to a certain temperature. I like this candy-apple red. Have you ever seen a more perfect paperweight for a romance writer? Well, apart from a RITA statuette, I mean?
I'm planning to do some heavy-duty romance writing today, so I'm signing off now and will blog at you again tomorrow. Everyone have a lovely Thursday.

I do believe that paperweight is the perfect one for a romance writer! I wonder what my paperweight would look like?
Michelle, tell us your profession and we'll think up a good paperweight for you. ;-)
Laurel, I don't listen to much folk music, so the artist you mention isn't familar to me. But thanks for your kind words about my book.
LOL Brenda!
I am a homeschooling mom who sells this: www.athome.com/mp for extra cash. I've been with AtHome for 4 years now and have about 30 people on my team. I used to drive a semi cross country with my husband. I am a horror addict. I am a writer. I am Director of Women's Ministry and I lead Women's Bible study and I am slated to start teaching Sunday School and I'll be teaching teens during Vacation Bible School.
I'm stumped for a good paperweight! LOL, I have no consistancy, rhyme or reason.
Oh, I must add: I want to write something that would equate to a Christian horror novel.
Michelle, sweetie, I was all set to put on my thinking cap and come up with the perfect paperweight for you, but reading about your busy life wore me out. Sorry.
;-)
I have the perfect paperweight for Michelle, The Energizer Bunny!
Michelle, your perfect paperweight would look exactly like Brenda's, but the paint would still be wet and it would go ba-thump, ba-thump, ba-thump.

Ahh Chris that was sooo sweet,
are you getting to be a softie?
I think we'll have to excuse Chris if he starts acting a little weird (more so than normal, I mean). The poor guy is reading his first romance novel.
dFm---that was GOOOOD...better than you're normal sense of humor. I'm still laughing!!!
(I don't think dFm was trying to go soft, I think he was eluding to the fact that it was a beating heart--think horror stories. I don't want to get all graphic and gross you out now...don't make me do it!)
Just so you know dFm, I pictured The Tell-Tale heart. :)
Yeah, Michelle, I did pick up that Telltale Heart vibe.
;-)
Ok, I CANNOT believe I wrote "you're normal sense of humor"
Please forgive me. I drove for about 10 hours today and that's a sorry excuse for a mistake like that. I'm so embarassed!
