Many of you have noticed that this blog's most tireless heckler, my Number One Son, has been keeping a low profile for the past month or so. Don't worry, he's still as smart-mouthed as ever; it's just that work, school, and a cute blonde have been occupying most of his time lately.
He was hit by a car this afternoon while riding his bike in downtown Chicago, but tonight I'm thanking God that he was able to walk away with nothing more serious than a few scratches and bumps. I understand he put a pretty spectacular dent in a Mercedes (that's my boy--he gets hit by only the very best cars), but his bike seems to be okay.
He's on my mind tonight as I burn the candle (pictured below) that he gave me for Christmas. I'm slurping lukewarm cafe latte from a tall Starbucks cup and listening to the brand-new CD from Coldplay, the band he introduced me to last year. Can't tell you much about the CD because I haven't yet heard it all the way through. But so far there's nothing as zingy as "Yellow", and I'm already on track 10. I've heard at least three nice little tunes that sound like they were cloned from "Clocks", but I suppose that's okay. It's still good music to write romance novels by, especially around midnight when you're burning a rose-scented candle.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and if you go for a bike ride, please be sure to wear your brain bucket!

Aaah, so that's what the tremor in the Dark Side was earlier today. Glad he's okay, although the possibility in moving up a spot in the Heckler ranking is tempting. My car, alas, is a lowly Subaru, so he's safe ... for now.
I heard a cut off the Coldplay album on NPR and I swear it was Alan Parsons Project played down-tempo. Not entirely unenjoyable, but strange.
Mmmmm ... bucket of brains. <drool>

That was cold Chris, trying to use #one son's misfortune that way! ;-D

Very glad he's okay, Brenda. If he's smart, he'll get some TLC from said cute blonde!
Glad your son is OK, but I'm sure it was scary all the same. My younger daughter went to school in Chicago and I just had to put her in God's hands or I would have worried all the time about her. I've seen Chicago traffic -- it's amazing ANYONE survives. :) Prayers are with you.

I'm glad he's ok, Brenda.
glad he is all right, Brenda
several things:
1)thank God he's okay... I know, it's hard when they are so far away
2)elbow and knee scratches...but what about his HAIR???
3)that's a good CD, I like it...Tracie took it from ME, not the other way around
4)the matches in the picture...ahh, that was a good time, huh?
5)been really bogged down with work, but I still pop in now and then for a break from the O&G world

To my kid: Hmm. Well, does the cute blonde know about the cute blonde in the pics you sent me the other day? And by the way, Aunt Skeezicks is not going to like the new 'do. Better start growing it back before you see her again. (She really dug that whole floppy Hugh Grant thing you had going on for all those years.)
To my sister: Just now I was sitting here at my desk, writing my little heart out when my office door opened and there stood my hunk o' burnin' love with a tall, icy mojito in his hand. It really pays to grow that mint in the back garden!
To everyone else: Thanks for the kind words. I know I have a lot to be thankful for.
truth be told...it's actually HIM that I adore...but the hair is cute too...long or short
happy saturday to all and to all a good night

Hugs to you, Brenda.
Tristan, glad you're okay. DON'T DO THAT AGAIN!
I had heart palpitations just reading your mother's post. Being a mom myself, I so went right outside and let the air out of all the bike tires. Just nip that one in the valve stem!
As far as music, think I need something calming. Maybe a rain forest or a cat purring.
Oh yeah, have the cat purring on my foot right now.
The things I have to put up with to write.
So glad he's okay!
Brenda, I'm thanking the Lord Tristan's safe, too. And I heard a couple cuts from the new Coldplay---booooring...yawn. And I loved CLOCKS. Being happily married has made Chris Martin dull. ; )

Yep, I'd say Gwenneth has a lot to answer for. ;-) The new CD doesn't begin to approach the quality of Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head.
